A Surreal Mind Trip

Dear friend, 

    Thank you for visiting this exhibit I curated for you. I present to you “A Surreal Mind Trip”. In this exhibit I explore surrealism through self, nature, and ideas. I hope to inspire the viewer to look at life and subjects in different perspectives.

    In our society we are constantly thriving and making strides in scientific and technological advancements. As we continue to do so, we must also look at our people and the world around us. Instead of thinking of competition and a lack of resources, our world will open up more if we consider abundance and community. By looking at the world through abundance instead of lack, we respect and understand the place of others in our shared experience. We will also thrive along with nature and our fellow living organisms. This is a community where we can all thrive and achieve our dreams and goals. If we thrive, nature can thrive too. In caring for others and nature, we also care for ourselves.

    These paintings are influenced by my life as a Puerto Rican here in the United States. I moved to the United States with my family when I was just 5 years old. I grew up longing to return to the island I call home. Over the years, I appreciated the freedom that artistic expression gave me, especially to connect with my family, friends, Puerto Rico, and myself. The colors and subjects of my paintings are brought to life by a tropical color palette that is saturated and vibrant. In Puerto Rico, our culture is vivid and expressive. I hope this exhibit can inspire you to live beautifully, boldly, and see the world in a creative way.
